Our Elders
Meet our Eldership Team headed up by our Pastor, Jamie. At Aloha Nani Church we believe that it is not culture that dictates what qualifies a leader, but the Holy Bible. The New Testament really talks of two types of leadership role within the local church; elders and deacons. When we say that we are an elder led church at ANC, it means that the elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight, shepherding and direction of the church family (Titus 1:5-9; 1 Tim. 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4). Whilst the elders bear this God-given responsibility, the New Testament also includes deacons who effectively help lighten the load for the elders so that they can primarily focus on the above, but also so that their God given gifts are exercised, that the whole body might flourish, something that we are looking to encourage as we continue to grow. This all said, at ANC we love to lead with accountability and transparency, recognising that we are not a business or organisation but a church Ohana. Part of this means that we want to communicate decisions and where we feel The Lord is directing us to the church, to whom, under God, we are accountable. Please do pray for your Elders!

As a growing church, we are intentionally working towards the pattern of leadership we see in the New Testament: elders and deacons. While our elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight, shepherding and direction of the church, deacons serve by taking responsibility for important areas of practical ministry (Acts 6:1–7; 1 Timothy 3:8–13). The word deacon simply means servant, and that captures the heart of the role. As the Lord provides the right people. As we grow, this helps prevent ministry resting on just a handful of people, frees our elders to focus primarily on prayer, teaching and shepherding, and enables the whole church ‘ohana to use their God-given gifts and flourish. Please pray with us as we seek to put these roles in place faithfully and biblically.
